The design of Honor 8X is identical to the expensive phones and the price is just the quarter of the expensive phones.  The Honor strategy also ensures you get the value for your money in comparison to other popular brands. The build of Honor 8X is comparable to expensive models. Glass plates offer a matte-finish.

Honor 8X design is a full HD display in 6.5-inch. It features 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution with a screen-to-body ration of 91 percent. The plastic slim borders neatly sit between the glass and metal parts, while the back finish is plain. There are no funky gradients and no light-reactive layer. A two-tone subtle band averts from being plain.

Huawei Honor 8X

Key features

  • A Glass back, all-screen front, and metal frame
  • 1080 x 2340 screen

The Honor 8X features metal sides and a glass back. It is extremely slim featuring a fairly slimline notch. These factors in combination make the 8X phone appear to be above several price classes.

Again, it has a full HD screen, a 2MP and 20MP dual-lens on the rear camera and a 16MP front camera that it is high-end for this price.

This mid-range CPU phone Honor 8X has a faster graphics chipset.  A micro USB is the charging socket and weaker is the secondary rear camera.  Thus, there is a need to use the AI night mode to capture good night photos.

As such, there is no water resistance, but Honor 8X also comes with extras. There is space for microSD card and nanoSIM card in the same SIM tray. The fingerprint scanner is reliable and fast. There is a storage of 64GB at this price.

The ultra-slim screen in Honor 8X offers a comfortable hold. It is not only for big hands or for enthusiasts; it is actually slim, though it is thick at 7.8mm. Honor 8X reveals a brilliant job done.

Screen

  • LCD screen in 6.5-inch, 1080 x 2340 pixels
  • Notch that hides
  • Customizable color profile

The Honor 8X has a tall 6.5-inch LCD screen featuring a narrow notch.  If you dislike the notch, you can block the top are using a black bar.

The Honor 8X uses vivid color mode differing from the expensive phones tastefulness. Some tones truly appear sick and if so it is best to switch to normal color mode. Colors look good and rightly saturated. Honor 8X features 1080 c 2340 pixels and a resolution of ultra-long full HD grade. The display size in Honor 8X is ideal for gaming, phone enthusiasts, video streaming, reading books or long articles.

Battery life

  • Battery with 3,750mAh
  • micro USB charging

Having a 3750mAh battery, Honor 8X cannot be regarded as huge for a device of the 6.5-inch screen.  Though power management may be intense, Honor 8X fails to pull some invasive moves such as Podcast Addict or Spotify while you listen to music over a podcast.

Audio streaming is done for several hours. In fact, few hours of internet browsing and YouTube streams for 30 minutes will also keep your Honor 8X running up to 11 pm.

The Honor 8X charges using a micro USB port. It charges fast and gives a variable voltage.  Honor 8X is certainly not the faster, but it is not a device that has the basic charger.

Camera

  • Dual rear cameras 20MP/2MP
  • Photography including AI-assisted specialist Night mode
  • Front camera 16MP

The camera in Honor 8X’s is the ultra low light mode featuring a synthetic wide aperture for a dual-lens system and an AI model. The Honor 8X offers the very feel of being a phone that has a feature-rich camera.

The foremost issue is the shooting speed. It experiences a slight shutter lag and thus it means it cannot be referred to as an instant snapper.  The 20MP main sensor image quality is good with f/1.8. The shots in daylight are detailed and sharp. It features good pixel level of integrity. It has solid auto-optimization range post and manages very well the mixed lighting levels.

The 12MP top-end camera is linked with intelligent processing and is great for this price. For natural shots, keep away from using AI mode frequently. Instead, use standard shooting. You can fiddle with saturation and filters for more creativity.

However, if you are high in social networking, Honor 8XAI mode is ideal. The interesting part is in the ultra-low light mode in this phone. They lack the sharpness of a high-end phone camera. Using the dedicated night mode, you can increase the sharpness in the photos. It also takes 5-7 seconds with moving subjects, though you must stay still. However, you can be proud of the best photos of low light at this price.

The video capture is average. Besides all the pixels, the Honor 8X caps 60 frames/second at 1080p. The front camera manages 30 frames/second at 1080p. There is a 16MP sensor of the front camera and Honor has honored selfies than others.

There is a Beauty mode that offers a flattering look. You can consider photoshopping your selfies to ensure a smooth rich look. Remember, the processing ends up over sharpening of the images on setting to zero the beauty slider.

Software

  • 1 Android with EMUI
  • Excellent performance
  • Plenty of pre-installs

The Honor 8X runs on Android 8.1 and every Honor phone has Huawei’s EMUI. EMUI features long-standing detractors. It is today the better custom interfaces. It is less stripped in comparison to the Pixel UI, the new Android pure form. Besides, it is coherent visually and offers customization. EMUI has home screens and you can reinstate in the settings this Android staple.

The apps menu is different from the normal ones. It is a vertical scroll, and has on the right-hand side an alphabet shortcut, allowing you to zip in no time through a large app collection.

The unusual extras are silly. Party Mode allows sharing tunes with other users of Honor phone on creating a Wi-Fi hotspot. It means all the phones will have the same tune playing on their onboard speakers.

Karaoke Mode allows monitoring through headphones your singing and this is done using the mic of the phone.  Of course, this is not the exact style of Karaoke and there is nothing pushed to the users by Honor 8X.

The Honor 8X and the software EMUI offers a great feel. It is smooth, quick, and responsive offering no-load waits or lag experienced in some phones.

Games and video

  • Video Display is great
  • A decent option for gaming
  • Quality is reasonable, but mono, speaker

Honor 8X is great with video and this is because the screen is vibrant and big enough. You can watch a full movie in this video. If you are traveling, you can enjoy video watching.  In fact, a local video player storage app is also included.

Honor 8X big screen clearly states the choice for gamers. However, Honor actually provides Honor play, something stronger. That phone features a powerful chipset, performing better in dealing with 3D games such as Ark: Survival Evolved played otherwise on PC or a PS4. The specs of the Honor Play ensure the games are handled better. The graphics chipset featuring 12- core Mali G72 and the Kirin 970 CPU ascertain smooth gaming.

The sound quality is average. The speakers are integrated and are loud. There is no stereo sound. However, gladly there is the 3.5mm headphone port and there is no need to escalate to a wireless pair instantly.

Performance and benchmarks

  • RAM 4GB
  • Octa-core chipset Kirin 710
  • Good but the power is not class-leading

The Kirin 710 in Honor 8X is the more powerful phones available at this price. This chipset has 8 CPU cores, 4 Cortex A73s, and 4 Cortex-A-53s. The Cortex A73 cores imply it outperforms easily and is a compelling rival.

The phone Honor 8X has Ram 4GB that the score on the phone is much higher. It can easily match Moto. This RAM does not match the flagship phones performance seen in the top-end phones today.

Verdict

The Honor 8X presents a great summation about the Honor brand. It offers an expensive feel and looks of high-end phones. This model Honor 8X features a display notch, slim screen borders and concentrates on the front-on look. The hardware has some compromises, such as a weak secondary rear camera, mid-range chipset, and micro USB connection. However, even with a few compromises, it is certain that Honor 8X is worth buying, an appealing Smartphone choice.
