Apple is likely to unveil its upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro later this year. This new laptop is likely to offer some significant upgrades over the existing MacBook Pro model. The current article provides insights into the design and specifications of the new MacBook Pro along with its tentative launch date and pricing.

Design

The upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro will have a similar design to the existing 15.4-inch MacBook Pro but sport thinner bezels. You will get more screen space with this new MacBook Pro. Though it is still not confirmed, you may also get a touchscreen display with the upcoming 16-inch model. Nothing more concrete is known about this laptop now, so you will have to wait for finer details to emerge.

Display

The display is expected to be LCD panel and not OLED, which might be a dampener for a few customers. The display is likely to have a 3072 X 1920 resolution. The resolution will be sharper than existing retina display (2880 X 1800) in existing MacBook. However, a 4K resolution would have been better appreciated by the customers as it is already available on Windows laptops.

Performance

The details about the processor to be used in this upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro has been kept under tight wraps by Apple. However, considering that Intel has launched its Icy Lake 10^th generation core processors, you can expect it to make its way in this laptop. However, there are reports which claim that the new MacBook Pro will use the earlier Intel Coffee Lake-H Refresh chipset which was already used in the MacBook Pro laptops. It is also likely to come with AMD’s new Navi graphics card. The new MacBook Pro is expected to run on macOS Catalina, which is the latest version of Apple’s desktop OS.

Keyboard

Apple is highly likely to change the controversial butterfly-switch keyboard in the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new keyboard is being rumored to work on scissor-switch mechanism and is a more common and low-profile keyboard. However, don’t expect the look and feel of the new keyboard to change drastically.

Price and Availability

Rumors have put the potential launch date of the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro in September 2019. It may take place alongside their new iPhone launch. This laptop is expected to be steeply-priced and can cost you nearly $3,000.
