What is a Bot?

Bots are the programs that are text-based and are empowered by AI, artificial intelligence and with the processes of natural learning. They are asked to interact over a given medium, platform, application, or network with users. There are chatbots in various types and they do carry out and execute various tasks such as customer service. This is the reason that Gartner foretells that by the year 2020, any average person will communicate and indulge in conversations not with their spouses anymore, but more with bots.

AI, Conversational artificial intelligence created a unique way of business development and engagement. With AI products help, now the businesses are able to streamline with ease the workflow, reduce the response time, perform repeated tasks in an effective manner and within budget, and above all are able to retain the onsite and on store visitors. Only one thing is required and that is to have a sturdy, fully-functional, reliable, and intelligent bot to act upon given tasks.

XOXCO is a Texas-based Conversational AI and bot development company and has a significant role in creating Howdy since 2013.  This is the first available bot commercially available now for Slack to organize meetings. It developed Botkit providing development tools on GitHub by developers, in hundreds and thousands of numbers. On Thursday, at Microsoft, the Corporate Vice President, Conversational AI Lili Cheng, said he is highly impressed by XOXCO work and is happy for being partnered with XOXCO, over these years.

Conversational AI is an innovative way of allowing businesses to engage with customers and employees, thereby redesigning customer interactions and creating virtual assistants to help employees in working and communicating better using conversational assistants.

By 2020, According to Gartner, conversational artificial intelligence will become consumer-centric enterprises supporting for over 50 percent, by and large, the user experience.

The Microsoft Bot Framework today supports more than 360,000 developers and this service is available on GitHub and in Azure. However, Mr. Cheng said ‘with this acquisition, the company realized it is high time to democratize the approach of AI development, integrate conversational experiences, dialog, and conversation so that people communicate’.

Microsoft in the past six months has made strategic acquisitions so that AI development pace can be accelerated. In May, Semantic machines were acquired aiming to bring a new revolutionary style to the conversational AI. It acquired in July Bonsai so that the AI development is not hindered and also tried combining reinforcement of simulation and learning, in combination with machine teaching.

In the month of September, Microsoft acquired a company, Lobe that developed a simple visual interface authorizing anyone to apply and develop quickly the deep learning and AI models, without the help of any sort of writing code. In October, “the GitHub was acquired demonstrating the belief in the communities’ power to help in fueling the next bot development wave,” said Microsoft.
