Right off the bat, one of the first things we noticed about the Logitech G502 Hero is how amazingly high quality this product is. With multiple buttons, good heft, and an awesome click wheel, the Logitech G502 Hero is perfect for just about anything you could throw at it – non-gaming related tasks included.

With 11 buttons and a standard 121 grams and the ability to add an additional 18 grams to it, the Logitech G502 Hero is heavy enough without being cumbersome and adaptable enough without being insane.

The scroll wheel is a particularly nice feature. It allows for smooth scrolling and even has a setting for notched scrolling for when you need to move through something less quickly. This adaptability makes it perfect for gaming then productivity tasks. You won’t have to switch out mice to go from one activity to another.

One of the biggest factors that can hold back a gaming mouse, especially for quick-reflex genres like first-person shooters, is being too heavy. The Logitech G502 Hero is just right in this area and should be great for FPS gaming.

If there is one fair complaint that can be lodged against the Logitech G502 Hero is that it is not symmetrical and thus not the easiest mouse to get used to at first. It almost seems a little too busy for our liking and the different symmetries between the buttons is strange. After all, can’t a user naturally distinguish between the left and the right click button on a mouse? Do you really need a tactile difference distinguishing the two?

In review, the Logitech G502 Hero offers stellar performance across a wide variety of use cases. It is also totally customizable and should adapt well to most any game. It is weighty without being heavy and glides across surfaces with ease. The mouse also translates information to the screen in rapid time with little delay. The mouse isn’t perfect, and it does seem over designed at times. That said, it is an amazing bit of kit for the price you pay. We recommend it for gamers that like to switch between gaming and productivity as well as those gamers who tackle multiple genres of games. Specialists might not like the Logitech G502 Hero as it isn’t exactly perfect for all genres (like FPS games), but it handles all of them for what that’s worth. The Logitech G502 Hero is the perfect beginner’s mouse and will be great for the long haul.
