Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a great cooperative game similar to Left for Dead 2. But what makes it unique is the Warhammer setting that pushes the boundaries and makes the gameplay so good to begin with. You have a great lore, multiple locations to explore and there’s also a great leveling system.
They retained the old characters but offered various versions if you get a higher level with that particular character. And that does change your play style. Even if the game worlds are very different to one another, you will notice that the enemies are rather similar, although there are always some new bosses around the corner just waiting for you.
Cooperative gameplay is a must here. Enemies come in hordes, so if you’re not careful you can easily lose the game without a hitch. Enemies and bosses are spawning in different places all the time. So even if you have the same map, every playthrough is different, and that just makes things a lot more fun and rewarding in the end. The 5 characters are great and the best part is that you can easily test them out at your own pace.
Combat will differ based on the character you use. Some are ranged and they use magic, others use bows, and you also have the pistol carrier or the sword user. The game does have RPG elements because you level up and you acquire new items each time you play. This definitely makes the game very intense, and it does deliver a rewarding set of ideas all the time.
The game performance is not extraordinary, but you do get plenty of value for what you are paying here. There are 13 levels without DLC, and if you want to max out every character, you can easily play 100 hours or more. The AI is pretty impressive, although also dumb at times. But it does get the job done and for the most part you will be quite happy with what it delivers. This really helps you immensely and it brings in front some nifty and cool ideas that you can enjoy and use at your own pace. Even if it can be very time-consuming, it’s one of the greatest things to explore and you will like just how interesting every location really is.
With Warhammer: Vermintide 2 you always have a great time, just because the visuals are great and the sounds really make you feel every blow and impact or cut. It just shows how gritty and intense the combat in this game really is. Yes, it could obviously be a bit better, but in the end you will enjoy it a lot and that’s the most important aspect for you to check on.
Is Warhammer: Vermintide 2 a great title? Of course, and that’s because it always gives you a fun time. Even if it might end up being repetitive at times, it does have a wonderful loot system and plenty of levels that are pretty big in their own right.
