If you are acquainted with the world of games then there is by no chance that you are unaware of Assassin’s Creed series. It is one of the most successful creations of Ubisoft that has quickly gained a lot of fame. But there are a lot of facts that are unknown about this popular series. 1. It was an accident that started the franchise

Assassin’s Creed is quite a famous name among today’s gamers. But it almost was destined to end up as a different product. The main game set of the crusade era was brought in to a version of Prince of Persia called as the Prince of Persia: Assassin. It had the protagonist character of a bodyguard of the prince in the lead. The upper levels of Ubisoft were not happy with the concept of a Prince game not featured on the prince. This brought in the call for a new brand and led to the birth of Assassin’s Creed.

2. The back story of the game predates back to 400 BC

Though the main story of the game play is stretched over the past 821 years from the release of the first part of the game series, the later versions take in the story to the histories of 2,500 years back in time. The fusion of the crusade story with the present day story of Desmond Miles was designed in backstory stuffed styles with lores and historical events interspliced in between. On taking the note of the game publisher, Xerxes was the first assassin known to kill the king of Persia, Darius as per Herodotus, the famous Greek historian.

3. Between FIFA and Assassin’s Creed – It is Assassin’s Creed

Statistics state that Assassin’s Creed made a record sale of over 93 million copies of the various version of the AC series games from 2007 to 2015. Compared to that, it took 16 years for Electronic Arts to reach the milestone of selling 100 million gaming units for FIFA. EA hit the milestone of 100 million copies in 2010. This accounts for the Assassin’s Creed series to win the title of being the faster seller among the two. But recently the sale of both the games is more or less at par each other except the drastic failure of one of the versions of the AC series, Assassin’s Creed: Unity in recent times.

4. The series has over 20 games to be played over 15 platforms

If it is about the mainline series of the game, Assassin’s Creed has 9 parts so far if one takes in the ‘Rogue’ version released in 2014 and neglects the remaster of Ezio trilogy. Other than these 9 sequences, there has been 11 more spin off games including side scrolling games in 2D and titles of isometric adventures. These games can be widely played across 15 separate gaming platforms like Xbox 360, Xbox One, PSP, PS3, PS4, Mac, Windows, Android, iOS and many more.

5. The map for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is big enough to get walk past it

The map for Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate has been designed over an approximate area of 3.3 km in the open world of Victorian London. Even so, it is nowhere in comparison to the biggest maps available in other parts the series. The map for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is known to be so huge that it takes more than 30 minutes of full tilt sailing to go across it. While you can attempt to swim across it, it would be useless and consume up a lot of time that you could has used to play the game.

6. 10 novels have been spawned for the series

Also known for pulling off comics series, AC series is known to spawn novel series that have been running for long time within the universe of the game. 8 of the earlier novels were penned down by Anton Gill, a English historian while the last one is about to be released in coming January.
