What Is Going On With Huawei And Google?

You know the world of smartphones is huge when places like the BBC and CNN are commenting on the “spat” between Huawei and Google. It was reported that due to worries about a USA and China trade deal that Google would no longer support Huawei mobile phones.

To be honest it is not so much Google themselves that are turning on Huawei as Google having to abide by rules set by the Trump administration that states certain companies (Huawei being one in this case) cannot deal with American companies (which Google is) unless they have a special license.

As a result, certain Android features, apps, and updates were not going to be available to Huawei phones! It is pretty huge news, especially considering how much more popular Huawei handsets have become the last year. So, while it is being called a “Google ban” you have to remember that Google’s hands are tied by these rules set in place by the Trump administration.

Things though could work out as Huawei has been given a special license (all be it just 90 days one) as of writing that will hopefully allow them to work something out so that Huawei users will not have issues with their phone. It is worth noting that Huawei is trying to keep people as calm as possible by letting folks know that they themselves are still supporting their US customers despite these “issues” that are floating around right now

So far no one seems to know for sure if some kind of deal is going to be worked out. It has been said that Huawei has been playing around with having their own play store and also that they could very well make their phones without any parts from the USA. It is all very interesting and rather strange stuff and you have to wonder what kind of financial impact this is going to have for Huawei.

This is going to have a knock-on effect for sure as Huawei actually deals with a lot of American companies so it is sure to have a negative impact on companies that are actually on American soil. Not to mention the millions of people who have a Huawei phone! It is said that Huawei is the second largest company when it comes to phones so that is a lot of people that are going to be upset.

If you have just taken out a new phone contract so that you could get a Huawei phone, you could end up stuck with that phone for the better part of two years. Which is not the end of the world usually, but when it is not getting updates and is going to be restricted in terms of what apps it can use. It is easy to see why so many people are actually worried about this. A phone can be a pretty big investment so many folks will be keeping an eye on what is going on here.
