Do you know what Apple TV is? The very first point is that Apple TV is not a TV. It is a plastic box in black color in palm-size connecting through an HDMI cable to your TV set. It connects through the wireless network to your home and brings the Internet video to your home TV.

The Apple TV is designed to stream TV shows and movies to your HDTV, same as the Roku. You can listen and watch podcasts. However, the way it interacts sets it apart from the Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.

Apple TV does not take much space; it is a little less than four inches. It features a remote, a power cord, and an HDMI cable so that your TV is hooked with the HDMI cable. It features an Ethernet port and has Wi-Fi as built-in that wireless connection is possible.

Apple TV: What Does It Do and how to Set It Up?

Apple TV revolves around apps and helps in streaming TV shows and movies to the HDTV. You can play games, watch or listen to podcasts. Some apps are free, while some Apple TV apps are not for free. Some can be downloaded for free, but there is a service to pay to use the app.

You need two things to set an Apple TV, and they are an HDMI cable and internet connection. Ethernet port is used to handle the hardwired internet connection and proper Wi-Fi support. It features a remote control.

On hooking it to the TV using the HDMI cable and turning it on, you have to run a setup program. It means you have to enter Apple ID that you use while you sign iTunes and download apps. Also, type Wi-Fi information to connect wirelessly. Use iPhone and speed the process. iPhone and Apple TV share the same information, and so you can avoid inputting information through a remote.

What does Apple TV Do?

Apple TV transforms your TV into a “smart” TV. You may stream or rent movies from iTunes, TV shows, and from apps such as Hulu Plus and Netflix, listen to podcasts, stream music through Pandora and Apple Music and replace traditional cable TV subscription services such as Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.
