Android Phones Factory Reset– here’s how you can do it

Performing factory reset may be due to lagging or other performance issues. However, remember that the resetting of the Smartphone is the last resort. You can get rid of several issues, yet try other solutions before considering the nuclear route. If you aim to clear everything from your phone, considering a factory reset is the only option.

Factory Reset in Android Phone

Resetting is inside the settings as the default option in Android phones. The Smartphones come with this feature that helps easy navigation to the required setting.  Follow these steps:

  • The first step is to identify the icon of settings of the phone and to see if it has a feature of settings search. Mostly it appears on the interface top.
  • Tap on it and type ‘Factory Reset’. There may be different skins on Android so try with ‘Reset’ and try to reset.
  • On stock Android, go to Settings – System – Reset Options – Erase all data – Reset Phone. This applies to all the other Smartphones.
  • On tapping the button, your phone restarts and will be as new.

Factory Reset via Recovery Mode

There may be times when the Android device fails to boot properly or it may become a compulsion to opt for factory reset if so the recovery mode is an ideal place. Recovery mode allows a full device wipe, referred to as factory reset.

Android is produced by different manufacturers and it can be used as an OS.  However, the recovery menu may differ. On a stock Android device, pressing the power and volume up buttons together allows the feature to be accessed.

There is Factory Reset Protection, a great feature introduced by Google. This feature does not allow anyone else to do a factory reset for your device even if it is misplaced, lost or stolen. Thus, after a factory reset, Google account details should be entered.

The Factory Reset Protection activates using the Recovery Menu on resetting a device. Here are the steps:

  • Switch off your Smartphone.
  • Hold both, power and volume down buttons.
  • As your phone is on, see an arrow and Start. Use the Volume and power buttons to navigate and select.
  • Go to Recovery mode.
  • Press the power button and select the option, it will restart.
  • The screen will say No Command. Press and hold power and volume buttons so that it boots into the recovery.
  • Use volume buttons to choose the option saying factory reset.
  • Then press power button and prompt ‘Yes’ as confirmation for factor reset to proceed.

 

After the completion of the process, you will reach the menu for recovery. Click on the Reboot system and boot into the normal interface of your Smartphone. Log into Google account and use your new Smartphone.
